Your Market crew is proud to present our first Sustainability Sunday on Sunday, September 11th!The centerpiece of this event will be an e-waste recycling opportunity offered by Exceed Enterprises, a Milwaukie-based nonprofit that provides employment services for workers with disabilities. Workers from Exceed will be collecting electronics at the southwest corner of the Market (along Jackson Street) during regular Market hours on September 11th.
Exceed does not accept refrigerators, stoves or other largee appliances. But otherwise the rules are simple — if it has a cord or a battery, they will take it. E-Waste includes unwanted, non-working or obsolete electronic products that have essentially reached the end of their useful life, including computers, audio equipment, batteries, cell phones, communications equipment, DVD players, laptops, printers, monitors, PDAs, handheld games, servers, routers, hubs, VCR’s, televisions and small appliances (working or not). Exceed will also accept donations of clothing (including belts, shoes and textiles).
In addition to the e-recycling booth, Sustainability Sunday will feature some great deals on LED bulbs from the Energy Trust of Oregon, plus booths for a number of local environmental causes. Watch our Facebook page for more details in the coming week.
Go through those closets, that garage and/or basement, and bring out those forlorn electronic items for recycling on Sustainability Sunday!
